This is one of my favorite poems. It really speaks to the learning that happens for me in Narrative Medicine <3

There is no Frigate like a Book
To take us Lands away
Nor any Coursers like a Page
Of prancing Poetry-
This Traverse may the poorest take
Without offense of Toll ─
How frugal is the Chariot
That bears the Human Soul.

How "fragile" is the chariot that bears the human soul, but how incredibly resilient the soul and spirit, regardless the chariot's condition.

If you aren't already familiar, read Wliiam Carlos Williams, and Linda Pastan.

"Repair", a poem by C.K. Willliams, is also one that should speak to med students.

Keep thinking about the art of medicine!
